Security
The popularity of WordPress also makes it a popular target for malware and other bots that compromise WordPress web sites to send spam and other maliscious code. In this section, we will cover ways you can help reduce the risk of this happening to your site, and also some ways you can possibly detect and maybe even remove the malware if your site should become infected.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We will take down any site that is shown to be sending out excessive emails or spam, or is otherwise infected with malware. When we take down a site, the web site will no longer be operational and your visitors will not see your site. This is
not the same as the WordPress maintenance mode. Your
entire CGI Server account will be taken off the web. However, you
will be able to go into your CGI Server account via FTP so you can remove files and directories and work on the problem. Your database will also still be active so that you can log in via
phpMyAdmin using your database name and password to work on your data and tables if needed. If for some reason you are not able to access your CGI Server account via FTP or your database via
phpMyAdmin, or remove any files or folders (sometimes you may have to wait up to 20 mintues and try again if you cannot remove a file or folder), please
let us know so that we can help resolve the issue.
