Update Your Scripts!

Have you ever had your CGI site slow down or become unresponsive? Maybe you have experienced connection problems or Service Unavailable messages. Sometimes this could be a problem in the connection between you and Active Web Hosting's servers. There isn't much that can be done about this. However, these problems can also occur if someone is running a faulty script on their CGI server.

Even well-known scripts sometimes have bugs. This is why it is vitally important that you follow all installation instructions carefully. Most importantly, be sure to update or upgrade the script program any time a new version is released. This can often minimize or even eliminate problems you may have on your site.

Also be very sure that the script is safe and secure. Before downloading and using the script, read the author's documentation, FAQ pages, manuals, and even forums, if any, to get an idea of how the script works out for others, and any known bugs or errors that may occur. Sometimes there may even be information on work-arounds, patches, and tips on how to get the script working properly.
