Question & Answer
What Is CGI?
If you want to set up a blog on your site or use a counter, guestbook, or even
build a site using a content management system such as Mambo or Joomla, then you
probably have read that these programs need a CGI Server in order to run.
By using CGI scripts, you can create a very interactive web site in which your
visitors can participate.
What is CGI?
CGI stands for Common Gateway Interface. It is what is used to run
Scripts. CGI scripts can be run in Perl or PHP. Some common scripts
(which some also call "software" as they are complete packages) are WordPress
blog, Joomla content management system, phpBB forum, and Coppermine Photo
Gallery. If you want to use any of these you need a CGI Account which you
can activate through your Account Management System.
If you want to learn more about CGI, how to set up an account, and some books
and tutorials on writing CGI scripts, please check out our

Once you have learned a bit about CGI and set up your account, you will want to
check out our
Script Tutorials
Which can help you install common scripts. We have a selection of these
tutorials so you can choose the ones you like best.
Some use several CGI scripts to put together a full site, some may only need a
counter for their web site. You can use these scripts along with your web site
if you wish. Just follow the instructions and put a link to the script's main
page on your web site. If you created a whole web site using a content
management system, you could even
have your domain point to your cgi server
and use that as your main web site.
Whichever you choose, using CGI scripts can easily enhance your web site.
