Working With Mambo
Creating A Frequently Asked Questions Database
With Mambo, you can create and maintain a Frequently Asked Questions Database.
Note that this 'database' is actually stored in with your other mambo content
in your Active Web Hosting MySQL database and you do not need to create
a special database on your own. Mambo comes with a FAQ setup which you can edit,
add to, or disable if you are not going to use it.
First, be sure that the FAQ is published and in your main menu. Do this from
the Menu -> mainmenu . Look for FAQ's under
the Menu Item column. If there's a red 'x' in the Published column,
click on the red 'x' to change it to a green checkmark, and thus activating the
FAQ in your main menu.
Creating FAQ Questions and Answers
Before you build your FAQs, you may want to create new categories to put them in.
You can do this from the Content -> Category Manager .
After you created the categories you need, you can then fill your FAQs.
Go to Content -> Content by Section -> FAQs - > FAQs Item .
There may be a couple example items to start with. You can click on the icon in
the Published column to toggle whether it's published and visible on the
web site (green checkmark) or not published (red 'x'). It might be good to unpublish
the examples, then click on one of the FAQ example titles to look at how one is
created.
You may also create a new FAQ item by clicking on the New icon at the top
of the page.
When you create a new FAQ item, put the question in the Title and the
Title Alias area. Then select FAQs for the section and the
appropriate category. Type in the answer in the bottom Intro Text area.
If you want to have a short description and a link to the answer, then type in
this short description in the Intro Text area, then the actual answer in
the Main Text area.
