What is FTP and how do I use it?
FTP is File Transfer Protocol. This is a means to transfer files from
your computer's hard drive to a remote server, such as Active Web Hosting's
server. You would use FTP to upload (or send) your web page files you make on
your computer to your web space provided by Active Web Hosting.
To use FTP, you will need an FTP program. There are many out there such as
CuteFTP,
SmartFTP, and
FileZilla. You will
need to set up the FTP program with your domain's FTP host name, username and
password. This information is sent to you in E-Mail after you sign up for an
account. Once you have your FTP program set up, you can then upload files to
your web space so that the public can view your web site.
Please see the FTP Frequently Asked Questions for
more information on setting up FTP and uploading files to your web space.
